Friends of Hazel Wood

The Friends of Hazel Wood committee (FoHW) are a group of parents and carers, who hold regular events to raise money for the school.

In the past, FoHW fundraising efforts have helped to pay for vital school provisions, such as, a set of 30 iPads, an interactive white board, improvements to the Year R outdoor area, Year 2 swimming lessons, guided reading and colour band books, headphones and many other items that, without the assistance of the FoHW, the school would not have been able to afford to buy.  On top of that, the school have used FoHW's funds to provide many fun 'extras' for the pupils of Hazel Wood Infant School, such as a play trail, playground games and equipment, an annual pantomime for all children, presents from 'Father Christmas' for each class to enjoy and much more.

Our annual events normally include a Fun Run, Clothes/Textiles collections, Christmas Card/Gifts fundraising scheme, Christmas Fayre, Disco's, Quiz Night, Mother's and Father's Day Gift Stalls, Easter Egg Hunt, Easter Bonnet Parade and Summer Fayre.  During the Covid-19 pandemic, the FoHW came up with new ways to fundraise, and organised a very successful sponsored walk and an Easter Trail for the local community.  We also sell pre-loved school uniform, hold a coffee morning for new Year R parents and carers in September and a Year 2 Leavers party in July.

The Friends of Hazel Wood would like to extend a warm welcome to anyone interested in finding out more about the committee and fundraising activities.  We hold regular meetings to plan upcoming events, and, co-ordinate with the school about where the money is spent.  New members are welcome at any time, and from any year group.  Drop us an email - friendsofhazelwood@gmail.com - to find out more, or for details of our next committee meeting.  We would love to have some new committee members on board to share fresh ideas and support us in our fundraising endeavours.
