Hazel Wood didn't let the rain stop us enjoying International Day of Play! We were creative, resilient, independent and loved working as part of a team. The play challenges involved completing assault courses, playing physical games(cross the river), solving problems with water, turning loose parts into art, exploring mark making techniques, creating toy zip lines and indoor den building. A massive thank you for all of your kind donations. The Play Team can't wait to share out the new OPAL play equipment. OPAL Outdoor Play and Learning CIC

We are pleased to announce that Hazel Wood Infant School will be taking part in our Walk, Scoot and Cycle to School Week, running from Monday 15 June to Friday 19 June. The aim of this special week is to encourage children and families to think about how they travel to school and to promote more sustainable, environmentally friendly ways of getting here. By walking, cycling or scooting, we can help reduce traffic around the school, improve air quality, and support healthier lifestyles for our children. We would love for as many families as possible to take part. Even walking or scooting part of the journey, or parking a little further away and walking the final stretch, can make a big difference. Throughout the week, we will be celebrating participation and encouraging pupils to share their experiences. It's a great opportunity for children to enjoy being active while helping to care for the environment. Thank you for your continued support. We look forward to seeing lots of walking, cycling and scooting during the week!

Hazel Wood is excited to announce as part of its progress with OPAL (Outdoor Play and Learning) we will be participating in this years International Day of Play on Thursday 11th June 2026. UNICEF is promoting this day with the theme "Protect play, protect childhood." This reinforces our school values as play builds creativity, resilience, independence and being a team player. Please send your child to school in clothes (and footwear) that are suitable for active play. They will also need to dress for the weather, a raincoat, and/or sunhat and sun-cream applied before the school day. In exchange for having a non-uniform day we are asking for a donation of unwanted second hand items that are in good condition. These items are things we need to support our OPAL journey. If you have something else, you would like to donate, please go and see Mrs Stevens to discuss your donation.
